Waggle Dance
Karl von Frisch spent over 27 years (starting in 1919) observing bees’ “waggle dance”, a figure-eight movement that he found out actually communicates direction, distance, and quality of food sources or nesting sites to colony members.

27 years of research and meticulous observation. In 1973, he won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine.
