Maybe not
We celebrate the free thinkers of the past; we are inspired by their courage in not conforming their thinking to please the mob that reacts, punishing with no mercy. And they have paid a high price for that. Not rarely, the highest one.
But this is not so uncommon, not so special, right?
Every period of time has had these figures with similar backlash. So, it is safe to say that they are here now, and the mob is again against them.
Can we spot them in the crowd?
Are you and I part of the mob?
Hard to say.
Too many variables that depend on who’s in charge.
Those that will be celebrated in the future are the ones aligned with the ruling of that moment. Even more, the past can be reconfigured when a myth is useful.
Maybe what you firmly believe as “right” today and accept as such by the majority can be considered “wrong” in the future.
Then you are part of the mob.
Such a mess.
We all can be considered monsters from time to time.
